Garibaldi Lake Engagement Photos

Garibaldi Lake is the location of Jullie and David’s Part 2 Engagement Photos and Adventure!

If you haven’t seen Part 1 in Hawaii, be sure to check it out!

Jullie and David celebrated their engagement in David’s hometown, Vancouver. And the next day, we headed out on a hike to Garibaldi Lake. After hours of hiking, we arrived to the camping site late, cold, tired, and wet. And in the rush of all things, we all ended up camping with kid size tents and sleeping bags. Size wasn’t much of a problem for me and Jullie, but poor David could only fit half of his body in his sleeping bag. And when I say it was cold, I mean, IT WAS COLD!! I wore all the layers of clothing I had brought and never got out of the sleeping bag.

Still tho, I had to take photos of the stars. I only had one night to do it and I had really hoped to get a time lapse too. So, despite the wet and cold, I laid in by bag at the edge of the tent and positioned my camera towards the stars using my Joby Gorillapod and my Vello Shutterboss intervalometer. Unfortunately, the sun rose shortly after making my time lapse too short. But I was still able to capture a beautiful star shot which was combined with another shot from Jullie + David’s Hawaii shoot. The final product (below) was selected as Junebug Weddings’ Best of the Destination Photos 2019! Junebug Weddings receives countless entries from around the world for this annual contest. So it’s a great honor to have been selected as part of their Best of the Best contests for a third time!

To add to the fun, I decided to animate the photo too! Double exposure photomotion!

Huge shout out to Fernando, David’s friend and now my friend too. Victor wasn’t able to make it for these Garibaldi Lake engagement photos. So Fernando tagged along on the hike and carried my gear. For this shoot, I brought along a drone, 2 cameras, and several lenses as well as many other essential accessories.

The photo below was also featured in the Spring/Summer 2020 print issue of Weddings in Houston Magazine. Hope you enjoy looking through these!
