I’ve had the opportunity over the last 10 years in my wedding photography career to shoot at some of the greatest Houston wedding venues. The Astorian is one of them! As described by the Astorian, it’s “an industrial chic, 14,000 square foot private loft space located in the Heights area of Houston. The Astorian is a throwback to 1920’s glamour and Art Deco design. The venue offers a contemporary, multi-level facility equipped with 14-foot ceilings, a fully functional gourmet kitchen and bar, and floor-to-ceiling windows with sweeping views of downtown Houston.”
When portraying the ambience of The Astorian, I love to focus on their signature offerings. This includes; their 12ft gold and silver plated functioning clock, the 35ft long mosaic feature on the bar floor, and of course – the Houston Skyline! The skyline is my favorite part. You get a beautiful panoramic view throughout the whole venue that creates a noteworthy aura!
The space is often heavily decorated for weddings, with flowers and candles at every inch. Nevertheless, the venue’s architectural details and included furniture makes it a great space for photo shoots with out any need for added decor.
I’ve most often photographed at The Astorian for wedding related shoots. For a limited time, the venue is extending their services outside of their normal realm.
Currently they’re allowing hourly rental of their space for photoshoots! And they’re also offering intimate wedding packages.
In addition to weddings, the venue can be ideal for family portrait photos, fashion photos, boudoir portraits, personal branding photos, and engagement photos!
This blog post contains photos of just a few of the opportunities I’ve had to photograph the venue with little to no added decor.
Below are photos of their brand new Soho Suite and Lexington Suite. These are two very different rooms, allowing for more diversity and options.
Above all, I hope the photos inspire you to see the diversity of one of the most beautiful Houston wedding venues.
